a few of sister corita kent’s rules:  Rule 7 The only rule is work. IF YOU WORK IT WILL LEAD TO SOMETHING. IT’S THE PEOPLE WHO DO ALL OF THE WORK ALL THE TIME WHO EVENTUALLY CATCH ON TO THINGS. Rule 8 DON’T TRY TO CREATE AND ANALYZE AT THE SAME TIME. THEY’RE DIFFERENT PROCESSES.

Thus, the television in the front room, guardian of my clandestine activities, could bleat away and I was no longer forced to  listen to inane nonsense fit for the brain of a clam—I was in the back room, perfectly euphoric, my eyes filling with tears, in the miraculous presence of Art.  -the elegance of the hedgehog

Uniqueness comes from passion and not adhering to any rules that may force the artist to make even one stroke that was unintended. Designers must create chaotic and truly original pieces to display their artistic prowess and then apply those unique methods to their design at work, and I think this will create a truly harmonious balance between art and design.
